In complete darkness our scales began to glow and I could see seven pairs of golden eyes peering around our surroundings.

"Where is he?" one of the younger little dragons hissed.

"Patience, he will come," another little dragon retorted his tone tense, however, betraying his own unease. It was the same one I realized who told me he planned on staying. They were frightened and for good reason but none of them understood yet the true extent of the danger. I couldn't in good conscious not warn them.

"There is more going on here then you realize," I said, but before I could finish Hannah interjected "Yes, Felix is testing us even now to see how loyal we are to Res Publica," she said giving me a pointed look.

Shocked by her obvious lie, I couldn't think of a proper reply but Jerome did. "That isn't what is happening at all," he said.

"Shut up!" Hannah screamed barring her sharp teeth, golden eyes burning, "I knew you weren't worthy of this honor." The other little dragons were openly staring at us now. "None of you are good enough for Felix because you have doubt," she said. The younger dragons began to hiss angrily at Hannah drawing her attention to them, "Prove me wrong," she challenged and pointed a clawed finger down the dark cave. "Will you go first or should I since you are too afraid!"

After giving her an angry glare, they began moving quickly down the dark corridor leaving Hannah, Ezekiel, Jerome and I alone.

"What are you doing!" I hissed. "They need to warned."

Hannah gave a violent shake of her head. "They won't believe you and will consider you a traitor. If that happens, then we have lost them for good. They won't listen to you anymore."

Her sobering words eliciting nods from all three of us. "Good," she said satisfied. "Now we need to hurry and catch up with them before anything happens."

Fortunately the corridor wasn't very long ending inside a large cave, but it wasn't empty. On the far right-hand side was a long conference table equipped with eight chairs, not something you would expect to see in these surroundings. I turned towards Hannah to see her reaction, but her expression was unreadable.

"Welcome!" a voice shouted reverberating in the room, originating from the left side. A doorway was there and from it emerged the presence of a stranger. The three younger little dragons immediately began bowing their heads, along with Hannah. The newcomer's golden eyes fixating on Jerome, Ezekiel and I. "Allow me to introduce myself, I am Felix."
